Hello!
Vanessa Wortmann, LISW: Owner and Psychotherapist
Just a little bit about me…
I completed my undergraduate studies at Miami University, where I earned my BA in Psychology. It was during this time that my fascination with the human mind and behavior began to take shape. I absolutely loved researching and learning about the complexities of the human experience.
I received my master's degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University. I strongly feel that social work not only helped increase my knowledge and skills necessary to address a wide range of mental health issues, but it increased my understanding of human behavior in the context of larger social systems, emphasizing the interconnectedness of individual well-being and the role that societal factors.
My approach
I am a firm believer in the power of storytelling as a therapeutic tool, and I incorporate narrative therapy techniques into my work. By listening attentively and fostering a non-judgmental environment, I encourage clients to share their unique stories and explore new perspectives.
My approach is grounded in mindfulness practices, as I believe in the profound benefits of cultivating present-moment awareness. Through mindfulness, clients can develop a deeper understanding of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, leading to increased insight and self-compassion.
I am passionate about working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and have experience addressing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and anger management. I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each client by also utilizing evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution focused therapy.
Together, we will embark on a transformative journey, uncovering hidden strengths and fostering personal growth, one page, one chapter, one book at a time!
